Turbo Nozzle Repair vs. Replace

Turbo nozzles wear — the question is which half

A turbo (rotary) nozzle spins a 0° jet in a circle, giving you pencil-tip impact with fan-tip coverage. Because the rotating assembly is doing high-RPM work under extreme pressure, it's a wearing part by design. When performance drops — slower rotation, uneven spray pattern, loss of impact — you have two options, and the right one depends on what's worn.

When a repair kit fixes it

Most of the time, what's worn is the internal seat, insert, or rotor — exactly what a repair kit replaces. If the nozzle body itself is undamaged (no cracks, inlet threads in good shape), a rebuild kit restores performance for a fraction of the cost of a new nozzle. We stock the TPR 250 HE repair kit for the Comet hydro excavation nozzle — the smart move for a $299 nozzle.

When to replace the whole nozzle

  • Cracked or damaged body
  • Worn or damaged inlet threads
  • Rebuild didn't restore rotation or pattern
  • The nozzle has been rebuilt once already and hours are high

Extend the life you have

  • Run an inlet filter — debris is the #1 killer of rotating assemblies.
  • Flush with clean water after chemical use.
  • Don't drop it — most 'sudden failures' start with an impact.
